That someone is you

I know what it's like. I've seen it played out a few zillion times: You're waiting for that magical day when someone makes the connection and recognizes who you really are.

Maybe they'll first catch the sparkle in your eye. Or perhaps they'll marvel at your insights and the depth of your spirit. Someone who will help you connect the dots, believe in yourself, and make sense of it all.

Someone who will understand you, approve of you, and unhesitatingly give you a leg up so that life can pluck your ready, ripened self from the branch of magnificence.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh...

Well, I'm here to tell you,  your wait is over. That someone is you.

Good thing you rock. Think about it if you want someone to catch the sparkle, and recognize that you have "it"--whatever "it" is, you have to believe in yourself. Simple to say, tough to do, but needed if you want to be the hero in your own play.

There are many ways of convincing yourself that you have it, there are gurus out there that will show you the better path, there are affirmations you can say every day. There are self-help books and people who will tell you how to be in touch with the universe. They are all trying to help, but the only one who can help you is you. Why not give yourself the spotlight, all you have to lose is ....

Dream a little

When it comes to setting aside a little time each day to visualize, look at it like this:

No matter how distracted you become or how confused you are about the process, the simple fact that you gave your dream this time and attention means that you did it correctly, you did it long enough, and that by the time you open your eyes, already in the unseen, huge wheels have begun turning.

Never thought about it this way

How do I steal the show, you ask?

Oh, that's easy! You should have asked ages ago!

Let's put it this way: To perform like a star, to steal the show, and to party with the "Gods"... take the stage, do the dance, and invite yourself.

Be the spark. Others are waiting. I find it interesting that many of us are waiting for the show to start, yet we are unwilling to take the stage. Be the person with the Stagefright, but get out and take the stage, life is too short to be in the wings. We all have stories that we are living, and we need to be the stars of that story, for ourselves, for our friends and for our family. For some of the only way we can become that star is to jump on stage and do the dance. Don't be shy, invite yourself to be the star of your own show, so at the end you can take the spotlight and listen to the applause. Life is good but short.

When you are the spark, you ignite the energy of those around you and you never know where the light will lead others. As Elders, we have a responsibility to those younger to be a beacon and a light as we have traveled the same path before them and we know where the pitfalls and twists and turns are and although we may not stop them from stumbling, we may prevent them from being hurt too much.

There is more than one right answer

I don't know about you but I get very suspicious of those who tell me there is one right way to do something. When I was younger I might have been more accepting of the idea of one right path. In fact, I at one time was convinced I had the right answer to issues around my work. Lucky for me I grew into a position where I was lucky enough to implement my "right plan". I was also very lucky to have people around me who agreed with me that the path was right, but there were also many parallel paths that worked and all of the paths took as ultimately to the same end. I also was able to listen and grew because of that experience.

There's always more than one right answer, path, possibility, nuance, or flavor - so insist upon none.

Insisting on details always limits you, I know this from experience, and I now look at the end result and focus on the big picture. Details are important, but the exact details may have to change so we can adjust, and enjoy the ride. Life is good. So I will have some more Purple Moonbeam Chocolate, please
