Stop and smell the roses

I try to walk every day, some days  I don't. Today I did and as I was walking along the Fraser River, just below my house, I came to a little park Every day on my walk I pass this park and I notice the beach, the benches, and the log booms, but today I noticed a wonderful fragrance as I walked up to the park. I noticed two wild rose bushes one red, one white with early roses blooming. The breeze was blowing off the river from the Northwest and so as I approached from the Southwest, the smell captured my attention. The smell of the roses were mixed with the scent of the cedar and the smell was quite intoxicating. I sat down on the bench and allowed my imagination to roll along and I thought of a couple of songs the first was the Log Drivers Waltz by Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle and the second was stop and smell the roses by Mac Davis.

I was able to sit and enjoy the west coast sun, the breeze and the roses and think how lucky I am to be alive and healthy. What have you said thanks for today?

I said thanks for the unique opportunity that I had to be reminded to stop and smell the roses. I also said thanks for my health, my friends and the people in my life who are special to me, and who may be going through numbing times, and  am thankful that I can be there when needed to be as supportive as I can.
