As the Credence Clearwater song goes, I am 'Looking out my back door' on a beautiful summer day and enjoying life and the creatures dancing on the lawn and playing in the band. I hope you are enjoying life as well. Pics from my back yard. Enjoy
I AM A SONIC BOOMER, NOT A SENIOR... In this blog, I am writing to and for those who believe that the Boomers will change what the word Senior means. I also believe that Boomers will change what retirement means in our society. The blog is also for those who are interested in what life after retirement may look like for them. In this blog, I highlight and write about issues that I believe to be important both for Seniors and working Boomers.

How to Deal with a Nasty Sunburn
We are undergoing an unusually hot and dry summer and if you are
not careful. These are the ingredients for a very bad sunburn. Do not worry; you
are not the only one who has made this mistake. Virtually everyone has been
foolish enough to stay out in the sun too long.
Sunburn pain can be quite agonizing and in some severe cases can
be dangerous. Therefore, you should immediately take action when you
realize you have let yourself be “fried.”
The pain and redness from sunburn usually peak after about 24 hours,
and blisters sometimes follow. So, although you may feel discomfort quickly, be
prepared for the onset of the most severe symptoms the next day.
Start the process of healing by taking a cool bath or shower.
Then gently pat yourself dry. Cover the sunburned area with 100 percent aloe
vera gel, hydrocortisone cream, or sunburn lotion. If you feel heat emanating
from the burned area, apply cool, wet compresses to help ease the pain.
In addition to topical treatments, you can take aspirin or
ibuprofen several times a day to reduce pain and inflammation. To keep your pain
down to a minimum, you should wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid
irritating the burn. It is also important that you do not break any water
blisters because they can become infected. If any blisters break on their own,
you should apply antibacterial ointment immediately. If conditions get worse,
see your doctor right away.
