When Kit Carson wasn't out exploring, he lived on a small farm. One day, the famous frontiersman decided to surprise his wife with eggs and fish for breakfast.
I AM A SONIC BOOMER, NOT A SENIOR... In this blog, I am writing to and for those who believe that the Boomers will change what the word Senior means. I also believe that Boomers will change what retirement means in our society. The blog is also for those who are interested in what life after retirement may look like for them. In this blog, I highlight and write about issues that I believe to be important both for Seniors and working Boomers.

Visualize outcomes
Not events, but outcomes. Visualize outcomes.
Not the cracking of the bat, but gliding over home plate.
Not the throwing of the football, but the scoring of the touchdown
Not the twists and turns in the air, but the medal around your neck.
Not the inking of deals, but the kind of life you'll lead.
Not the scale, the diet, or the food, but the admiration you have earned.
And not the whens, the wheres, the whos, or the hows, but the laughter, high-fives, and wows.
Not events, but outcomes. Visualize outcomes.
Seeing the outcome, allows you to understand the enormity of what you did or are attempting to do.
Humans are capable of great things. My grandson is a big air skier and is one of the best in his country for his age. The tricks he performs when he is in the air, never fail to amaze me and others. They start when he visualizes the event and the outcome. He then practices the event over and over again, until the events become part of his muscle memory. My brother when he was younger was the fastest runner (middle distance) in our country in his age group. He practiced and worked hard, but when he ran he did not focus on the running he focused on the outcome. I was for a time the second fastest runner in my area but I focused on the mechanics and the events, I never learned to focus on the outcome, so although i was good, I never became great.
Great actors and athletes do not just enter an event, they work hard and never perform without practice, and a lot of rehearsal, The actor or the athlete, who are great, do not focus on the events they focus on the outcome. Visualize outcomes to become great.

Ages 55 to 65 take care of yourself
In a previous life, I was the department head in a large school and I had several teachers in my department who were in their 60s. Over time, I noticed that some of them, not all, needed more help and were using their sick days more than their younger colleagues. I was at a loss as to know how to help them. There is more information available now than when I had my position, and it is important that between the ages of 45 and 55, a person develops good health habits.
There is some research that points to the idea that age 55 to 65 may be a critical decade, for individuals and may affect their health and may set them on a path that leads to good or bad health for their later adult years and the habits of the previous ten years influence how a person ages in these critical years.
Researchers have identified risk factors that can influence whether or not as a person ages they can stay healthily as they enter retirement.
Experts said there are several factors that can influence a 55-year-old person’s health for the next decade.
Researchers have identified some clinically important declines in physical health over a 10-year period, starting when a person turns 55. They are:
· Whether they smoke
· Their weight
· How educated they are
· Any other illnesses including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and osteoarthritis they may have
· If they have ‘clinically significant’ depression and
· If they had a higher physical component summary score - a measure of a person’s physical health - at the start of the study.
The good news is that a large proportion of people at midlife are very stable and will not experience declines.
By identifying risk factors and determining who is at risk, we may find interventions that can stave off health declines and help put people on a better health trajectory for retirement.

Fax vs email
My brother was telling us that he and his wife were waiting for the Dr. to send his wife’s prescription to the pharmacy (COSTCO) by Fax. I was surprised that the fax machine was still being used. It is and by, according to my brothers most of the medical professionals they knew. I thought that sending information by fax was an extra and time-consuming step. With email, create the document, attach, and send. With Fax, you create the document, print it, take it to the Fax machine, feed it into the Fax machine and press send. On the other side, you have to print out the document rather than read it on screen.
Evidently,
I was wrong, today if you want to send a fax, there is an app for that, so
create the document, save it, and then send it via the app. According to what I found
out, living in the digital era has lots of benefits, especially when it comes
to speed. We can send documents to far destinations without a hitch. Which one
is faster, more secure, and reliable, fax or email? Sending emails is fast and
convenient. It is what we are used to nowadays. A small problem can occur with
email, sometimes your attached document does not reach the intended destination
for different reasons. Your email can end up in:
·
Spam
or junk, so the recipient might not see it
·
The
wrong hands if:
o
You
have entered the incorrect email address by accident
o
Your
email has been hacked
Failing to
send files to your boss or a colleague is quite unprofessional. Emailing
potentially sensitive data to the wrong colleague, a client, or even a competitor—could
probably jeopardize your job. We may take email as a standard communication
form, but it could do lots of harm to you and your company.
Traditional
or internet fax machines and various fax services offer more reliability in
business environments. A fax machine was used long before email to send
documents to further destinations. They have not vanished with the appearance
of email—they have adapted. Faxing is still considered a more secure way to
send documents, especially the official ones containing sensitive data.
Most businesses rely on email for fast and efficient communication. We use it for everyday business and personal activities.
Emails can
get blocked, especially if a business has implemented security filters scanning
and rerouting emails to spam or junk folders. Some companies have such powerful
filters that an incoming email does not even end up in their spam or junk
folder but is automatically identified as harmful and deleted.
Should you
decide to attach a file to your email and send it to such a company, the
chances of it ending up in junk, spam, or being deleted increase. If your email
is identified as junk, your business partner might miss out on an important
document, and your project will run late.
You will
avoid this problem by using a fax app. Files you send via an online fax service
to a fax machine will not be scanned and identified as spam. Your files will
reach the recipient smoothly.
Emailing
comes with lots of security issues because it is used by plenty of people and
organizations. An email can be easily hacked or forged. Somebody can access
your confidential information.
Everything
can get more complicated and threatening with attached files. When you send or
receive contracts, medical documentation, or other official material, you can
easily catch spyware or some other malicious software and risk infecting your
computer or even the whole business network.
That is why
a lot of legal, economic, and medical sectors opt for online fax instead of
email. SSL encryption is what safeguards the files you send via online fax
services. This encryption keeps your sensitive data and documents safe when
using a web browser. I never knew so I now understand why medical
professionals use fax instead of email.
