Last comment on Fear

When you feel fear, treat it as an opportunity. This can be challenging when focusing on fear is the last thing you want to do. It is especially true when we are afraid of failure, rejection, or criticism. However, if we grasp onto this fear, it can help guide us to success.

This is what my grandson said to his mum when she asked him how he could defeat his fears.

Have you ever been afraid of something? Fear is a normal emotion and we can overcome it. It is just like any other obstacle we face. We can either choose to fight our fears or run away from them in defeat.

Fear is a normal human emotion, an essential response to threat and danger. While fear is natural, it can become a problem in certain situations. It is often perceived as negative, but it can be used to your advantage.

Fear is an emotion. It’s the feeling of worry, fear of loss, fear of the unknown, and fear that something bad might happen.

Fear and writing

As a writer, fear is something that’s been with me since I started my writing. It can be overbearing, overwhelming, and downright debilitating. But I refuse to let it win.

I’ve written a lot about fear and how to overcome it, but I think it’s important to say that fear is good. Fear is your friend, not an enemy. Fear keeps you on your toes and helps you be aware of potential dangers. When you feel fear, treat it as an opportunity to learn something new or reach beyond what you thought possible. And once you finish overcoming that fear, or just disagreeing with its message (for example: finishing a marathon), you will meet all your goals!

Who hasn’t heard the old saying–fear is an excellent motivator? While many can admit to being fearful of something, it’s rare to find those who harness their fears into motivation.

We all fear something. The fear of failure. Not being good enough. Being inadequate. No matter what your fear is, it’s normal to have the pain within it that comes with those fears. I learned a long time ago that no matter how bad my fears were, I could overcome them if I just kept going forward and didn’t give in to that fear. Today, when I’m confronted with my fears about my weight loss, or whether this blog post that I’m typing on is good enough for submission to a search engine programmer; instead of fighting them, which seems like the only rational thing to do… I don’t!

Fear is like the feeling you get when you think something bad will happen. It’s a warning to let us know that something bad is coming and it only lasts for a brief second, just long enough to think twice about what we are doing. That’s why fear is called the “fear of fear”.

The fear of pain and death is a minor hurdle we must overcome in order to grow. It can just keep us from reaching our potential, or worse, deter us from doing something that could mean the world to us. Fear can paralyze–while it can make sense to be cautious around certain things, there are times you’ll get too scared to do something and cut your chances of making a difference right in half!

Facing your fears 2

When you feel that fear, treat it as an opportunity and grasp onto it. By doing so, you’ll meet your goals and overcome anything.

I’m sure you’ve heard a variation of this phrase before. My 12-year-old grandson said this to his mum when he was talking about her fears about his avocation. He was reminding her he had a sense of what he needed to do and what he could do to stay motivated. Napoleon Hill, who wrote “Think and Grow Rich” in the last century, said that fear should not be seen as something to be feared — but something we can use fear as motivation for outstanding success!

I know what you’re thinking. You’ve been through so much in your life that the feeling of fear is overwhelming. Try telling yourself that it’s not a big deal — just another obstacle you can overcome with a little inspiration.

When you feel afraid, when you’re scared to take that first step, it’s likely because you fear something you haven’t experienced or faced before. Fear is an opportunity, though. Fear can help push you past your comfort zone and truly grow as a person. Once you do face, that fear head-on, it ceases to be uncomfortable anymore and becomes a positive thing.

Fear is a normal human reaction when faced with a challenge. We can use it as a tool to prepare for the situation, or a trap that will prevent us from achieving our goals. Fear can bring up feelings such as anger, anxiety and even depression in some people. In these cases, it is important to know how to deal with these emotions so you can actually beat them!

When you feel fear, respond with compassion. Fear is often painful, but it’s always there to show us how to grow and how to change. If we let fear take over our minds and feelings, it can easily stop us from doing things we need to do in life. Realizing your potential requires facing your fears by going for a run outside when the cold weather has come in — or even opening up a business instead of following your heart.

Facing your Fears (X)

Today and tomorrow I am going to talk about fear. There are many things that scare us in life, whether it’s the thought of failing or just not having enough money to pay our bills. But, the thing is, when you feel that fear, treat it as an opportunity and grasp onto it. When you beat that fear, you will meet your goals - a goal accomplished by facing your fears head-on.

Fear is a powerful emotion. It can keep you stuck and powerless to the things that scare you most, but it doesn’t have to. Fear can be your friend if you let it motivate you toward what’s important to you.

Fear is a natural response to facing challenges. However, fear can also be a barrier to achieving your goals. As you face more and more fear in life, it becomes easier to handle. Fear comes in many forms, and it’s important that you understand how to deal with them effectively.

It takes courage to be brave. Some things that people say make me feel afraid and some situations that occur in life are really scary. But I think the thing to remember is that this fear is a gift from God because when you feel afraid, it means that you are more focused on the good things: your goals, dreams and aspirations. What this means is that you should always try to face whatever fears there might be in your life head-on so that you can reach your ambitions or goals.

Fear is the most powerful force in the world. It’s too powerful to ignore. Even though we try to ignore it, it still creeps up on us and steals our confidence away.

Fear is a massive obstacle to achieving your goals. Fear plagues the dreams of people all over the world, yet they spend loads of time and energy trying to overcome it. It’s like it blindfolded them in a maze that they just can’t find the way through themselves. They don’t even realize that fear can be an opportunity in disguise.

Face your fears

When I was about 7, I was terrified of horses. I did not know why, but I did not like to be around them. I was raised in the country until I was about 5 and was always around horses. When we moved to town when I was 5 or 6, I forgot I was always around horses. By 7, I realized I was afraid of them. I remember delivering my papers and there was a herd of about 6 horses coming down the country road I was on. I took my bike off the road, into the bush beside the road and I remained there frozen in time for what seemed like hours until my dad came and took me home.

I never told him what happened, and he did not probe. As I grew, I learned how to cope with my fear, and it was not until I was in my mid-twenties that I found out why I had this irrational fear. Once I realized what caused the fear, I could face it and I could overcome it. I do not spend time around horses, but I can tolerate them and have even ridden them, much to the delight of my wife, who loves horses.

Fear can paralyze you; unless you can overcome it, you will lose out on some of life’s greatest pleasures. I did not have a magic wand to overcome my fear. It took time, energy and patience and it was hard. However, I learned about myself, and who my loyal friends were. Trust yourself and face your fear to enjoy life to the fullest.

Finding the Source of Your Fear

I used to have an irrational fear of horses. Growing up I delivered papers along a river in the country and there was a number of horses that used the trail along the river. Every time the horses came through I became paralyzed and would not move for sometimes hours. I never understood my fear and when I went to University, the group I was in loved to go horseback riding for fun. I joined them a few times but my fear would overcome me and I would have to withdraw. I finally overcame my fear by following some of the steps I outline below. It was not easy but I did overcome my fear of horses.

Unless you get to the source of a problem, it is difficult to solve it. The same is the case with your fears. If you are serious about getting rid of your fears and lead a more rewarding life free of fears, then you need to take care of this step before you can face or overcome your fear. When I found the source of my fear I was able to understand how irrational my fear was. I found out that when I was about 3 years old, I was kicked by one of the horses on the family farm and was out of commission for a few weeks.

Recognizing that triggers of your fears will help you either control, reduce, or fight them. Regardless of the type of fear you have, there is always a source. One approach to overcoming your fears is to take the time to write down your fears and their level of intensity. Then, add a note about environmental, emotional, or other factors that trigger that fear. This may help you trace the source of your fear. Look not only at external triggers but also consider internal triggers. Was there something in your past that created this emotional response? It is basically as simple as asking yourself, “Why am I afraid?”! So I asked that question and realized that every time I saw a horse I had an unconscious flashback to my childhood. Once I realized what was happening I was able to start to take control of my emotional state.

Another significant reason why determining the cause of your concern is of fundamental is that it empowers you to assess whether it is something that you can handle and control on your own, or whether you need expert help. In my case with my fear of horses I was able to take control of myself, but sometimes it is better to get help.

If you want further success in mastering your worries, then you need to take the lead so you can get individual help for whatever fears or concerns that drain you. Here are tips to get you started on the right track:

Remain positive. Fears that produce negative impact are also triggered by negative thoughts and outlook on life. Therefore, you must try to sweep aside those adverse thoughts from your consciousness to stop yourself from feeling sad.
Communicate with your internal self. There is no character who understands your concerns than you do. So, you need to build knowledge about your fears by knowing them and splitting them down into more manageable parts.
Assess your fears. Some concerns are unreasonable and often reside in the subconscious of the person instead of actual reality.

The importance of learning how to overcome your fears is rather obvious. No one wants to live their lives in constant worry or fear, no matter how intense it may be. An anxiety-free life is one that provides more opportunity for growth and liberates you.

Here are techniques that I tried and worked for me, you can try them if you want to find relief from your fears or totally eliminate them:

*Visualization
*Gather facts
*Get professional help

Visualization

Take time each day to find a place where you can be isolated and be able to concentrate. Your objective is to move to a low-stress position where you have power over your fear, instead of the opposite. Imagine your fear as a concrete object that you destroy. You will never realize how it is able to calm you down. I did this first by viewing pictures of horses, and then I started visiting horses that were at country fairs and over time I was able to be around horses without uncontrolled fear taking over me.

Gather Facts

Most fears are caused by the unknown or people's inability to have control over a given situation. When you are experiencing certain types of fear, you need to look at the truth of the circumstances and find the knowledge that you need. The more data the less stressed you become, because you always know you can handle the stress. Once I was aware of the facts and found out that up until and even I was kicked, I loved horses. It was not until I was away from them for about 2 years that the fear took over.

Professional Help

If you are one of those people who doesn’t use or perform self-talk or confront their fears head-on, then it is best to seek professional help. A professional will start by assessing your fears and then suggest techniques that you can employ to combat those fears. Overcoming fears is often a long process, so don't expect to get rid of all your fears (if you have many) at once. It took me about 5 years to overcome my fear and to actually like being around horses again.

Facing your fear

This message is short and simple: Pick one thing that normally scares you... and focus on it.  Face it head-on.

Why? Because the secret weapon against fear is your focus. Specifically, focusing on the present moment.  The power question to ask is: "What can I do, in this exact moment, to combat this fear?" (The other reason you should focus on the present moment? Fear comes from focusing on the future - when you focus on the present, you're safe.)

Challenge yourself to face at least one fear this week.  You don't necessarily have to conquer it or completely overcome it - but you do need to face it with focus!

Fear can run the world, unless we stand up to the emotion

Our Government want to make us fearful and we need to take steps to understand and protect ourselves from the hype and injury that buying into the collective fear can do to us.

"Fear runs much of the world, spurring on endless activity. Fear of enemies, of old age or death, of rejection, and a multitude of social fears are the basic motivators in most people's lives."

"From the viewpoint of this level, the world looks hazardous, full of traps and threats. Fear is the favored official tool for control by oppressive agencies."

"The proliferation of fears is as limitless as the human imagination; once Fear is one's focus, the endless worrisome The proliferation of fears is as limitless as the human imagination; once Fear is one's focus, the endless worrisome events of the world feed it.

Fearful thinking can balloon into paranoia or generate neurotic defensive structures and, because it's contagious, become a dominant social trend." David Hawkins in Power vs Force

Most of us have a set of unique fears that relate to our own lives, like concerns about loved ones, financial worries and so on; but there are also many “universal” fears – or perhaps you might call them “collective” fears – that are communicated to us through our environment.

These fears often relate to situations and events that leave us feeling vulnerable and defenseless, such as worldwide 'pandemics' (...and 'vaccines'), 'terrorist' attacks, economic and financial crises, and so on.

Not only do we see and hear constant references to these frightening scenarios in the media and from the people around us...the energy of collective fears also seeps into the very fabric of our reality (the quantum field) and continues to resonate around and within us.

Since we are all connected to the collective consciousness, we can actually absorb this “fear energy” as we go about our daily lives - even if we don’t pay attention to the media hype and mass hysteria.

In other words, if society's desire was to manipulate and control people by keeping them suppressed in a low vibratory state of fear ...this can affect everyone.
.
Have you ever felt nervous, edgy, tense, or vulnerable for no apparent reason? Even when everything in your own life was going fine, you may still have been affected by these collective fears and felt uncomfortable as a result.

...And to make it worse, the moment you begin focusing on these fearful feelings, the more you begin to magnify the collective fear energy without even knowing it

It is not easy to avoid absorbing these fearful messages, especially when you seem to be surrounded by endless examples of them every day. However, there are a few things you can do to minimize the impact that these fears have on your life.

An obvious first step is to limit your exposure to news broadcasts; especially when they always seem to pertain to frightening events that are beyond your control.

Focusing on this force-fed fear programming only makes you feel more vulnerable and adds to the energy of the collective fear. Certainly, you can stay informed about world events but it is advisable to seek independent, unbiased news sources on the internet, and then immediately start shifting your focus to something less fearsome.

Empower yourself by remembering that most of the things you fear will never happen. In fact, when you remember that giving your attention to anything only makes it seem bigger and more intimidating, you can surely see the wisdom in being more discerning about the things about which you are thinking.

Deliberately focusing more on positive things will help override the negative input you receive each day too. When you take greater control of your focus and place it decisively upon the creation of a joyful and positive reality, you contribute that same energy to the quantum field. This helps minimize some of the fearful energy being contributed by others around the world.

It is true that there are many horrible, scary things to worry about – but there are equally as many wonderful, joyful things to ponder. Spend time each day thinking about the people you love, happy memories, and the great experiences that may be waiting just around the corner for you. It may not make the scary possibilities go away completely but it will lighten your mood, leave you feeling happier and less fearful.

Freedom of Speech

Like millions of others I am upset, angry and sad over the recent events in France. My heart goes out to the families and friends of those who were killed in the senseless attacks by the terrorists. Over 3.2 million French citizens showed their concern and anger but also their respect for tolerance and understanding by their march. It was a proud moment for the people of France.

Freedom of Speech has been hard fought for over the years, it is not a right that people in power really like. Freedom of Speech gives those in power or authority problems. People may use their power of speech to advocate for the overthrow of governments, make fun of religion,  poke fun at our hero's or advocate a position with which the powerful disagree.

Democracy depends on the principle of free speech, but today there are those that would put limits (unreasonable) on Free Speech because of the Terrorist threat and because it fits their own agenda for power. In our society there are limits on free speech, you can't yell fire in a crowded room, or you can't (in Canada) advocate hate crimes, and most of us believe that these are reasonable limits. However, in the name of democracy our government is taking steps to limit freedom through new terrorism laws, and our mainstream media is controlled by powerful vested interests who have no interest in having people read/see the truth except as they see the truth.

In our society the ones who maintain the principle of freedom of speech are the writers, the cartoonists and bloggers on the internet and in mass media, who do not bow to the powerful or the religious fanatics who attack in an attempt to make us afraid.  Fear is a two headed and dangerous enemy, fear can protect us and help us survive, but it can also make us take actions that are not in our best interests. The measure of our society and the future of our democracy will be determined by how we react to the fear and anger that we feel every time there is a terrorist attack. We cannot let those who want power to use our fears to gain control because when they do, we lose our freedom. In the face of danger and fear, we must keep our courage.

Einstein defined courage as moving in the opposite direction. Churchill called courage the first of human qualities. Mandela saw it in the triumph over fear.

Courage.

Hard to define.

But easy to spot.

Because there is no courage without fear.
Fear of the physical.
Of the psychological.
Of the unknown.

Fear that makes the heart beat a little faster.
Fear that makes our fists clench.
Fear that stops us saying what we believe.

Fear makes us foolish.
It makes us weak.
It insists that we run away and hide.
It grips us from the inside an won’t let go.
It is relentless and powerful.

Fear stops us achieving.
Our goals.
Our dreams.
Our potential.
It closes doors.
It stamps on opportunity.
It panders to the majority.

But it can be conquered.

Because courage is our ally against fear.
An ally to help us break free from our shells.
To take-on our demons.
To ignore the dissenting voices and the sneering looks.

Because the greatest acts of courage are carried out by you ...

... in trying to be you.

Courage means looking into the depths of your soul.
It means ignoring dark voices.
It means trusting yourself.
Despite the nagging doubts.
Despite the devil on your shoulder.
Despite the inner fear.

To develop courage you must make friends with fear.
You must enjoy the feeling.
Because feeling fear means an opportunity.
An opportunity to grow stronger.

Let the weak run from things that scare them
Let the weak listen to their doubts.
Let the weak care what others think.
They will never achieve their dreams.

You. You are different.

You will face your fears.

You will move forward.

You will develop courage and strength.

You will achieve what you deserve.

Every one of us has a dream that is easier to ignore.
A dream we could chase if it wasn't so damn hard.
A dream to push ourselves harder
A dream to be ourselves – when those around us will be shocked.

A dream that requires us to look beyond the fear of the here and now ...

... to a time when we've fought our doubts ...

... and defeated our fears.

Right now we are a slave to those fears.
And that’s when we need courage.
The courage to listen to our soul.
The courage to open up and never to have
to utter the least courageous words of all:

“If only ...”
